This is Fr. Peter's (formerly known as Dn. Virgil's) wiki. It contains class notes (my own understanding of what was said in each class) and materials for the "Deacon's Singers."

Introduction

What is a place? It is a virtual space on the Internet that you can share with your friends and colleagues (coworkers) by invitation. You can create pages in this place.

Although a Netcipia place is based on a wiki, it also features a blog that enables you to easily publish daily or weekly information about your place.

A place can also be divided into several spaces. A space is a collection of pages grouped under a same label.

Why should you create spaces inside a place? For two main reasons: to better organize your information and also because it enables you to assign different user rights to each space.

Tips

Before proceeding to your place, please take a few minutes to read these basic tips:

  • Although Netcipia is optimized for FireFox, Internet Explorer (IE) 6 and IE 7 beta 3 or RC1 are also supported.
  • To change your password, go to your profile (link at the top of the page), and click on edit.
  • To create a page, either:
    • Type the name of the page in the corresponding field in the right column, and fill in the content of the page.
    • While you are typing your text in an existing page, simply create a link to the new page: although the page does not exist yet (a question mark will appear next to the link), simply click on the link and the new page will be loaded in edit mode.
  • Netcipia places contain two text editors: A simplified editor, that uses a Wiki syntax, and a WYSIWYG editor, that enables code-free formatting. Novice users should use the WYSIWYG editor. Advanced users will benefit from the greater speed and performance of the Wiki editor.
  • By default, a Netcipia place is private and only you can access it. As the place owner, you can invite other users. Simply click on "Members - Invite" in the Toolbox (right column). You can also change the global access rights to a place, and make it public. Simply click on "Place - Right" in the Toolbox.
  • As you will see, I (Mike) have been automatically added as a member of your place. This is only for support purposes. You can revoke my credentials at any time by going to "Members - List" in your Toolbox. This Necipia place is yours, secure and confidential. Use it as you please (within the boundaries of our terms of use, of course :-))

Your turn to play

You should now modify this page to make it your place’s home page.

We hope you enjoy your Netcipia place. And don't hesitate to contact us or to participate to Netcipia's evolutions

Mike, with the Netcipia Team
